This new book about her life is so inspiring for younger generations to read. They will be captivated and inspired by all of the details of Diana's life from her love of ballet and animals to her reaching out to people globally as a Royal. In doing so, she touched individual hearts and broke traditional boundaries forever. Jenna Grodzicki, does a tremendous job with questions throughout each chapter to engage the reader in thinking and wondering how they might handle the same situation if it were to happen to them. I received an advance copy and was impressed with the quality of the book on many levels. To start with, the layout and appearance is very appealing, and the book is nicely sized and easy to hold. The format features chapters and frequent illustrations as well as bright graphics including maps, timelines, and sidebars. A feature called "Jump in the Think Tank" invites engagement and participation, as does the excellent back matter (especially a fun quiz that tests readers' retention and comprehension). Young readers will immediately connect to Diana as a child. Although her upbringing was exceptionally comfortable, she was still a child like any other who could be a bit naughty at times (playing tricks on her nannies) but also very playful and kind. The story about Diana's life unfolds from her early love of ballet and her pet guinea pig, Peanuts, to her role as a mother and also the People's Princess. Jenna Grodzicki includes interesting and relevant points about Diana's life and continuing legacy. And the book is up to date about what Diana's sons, William and Harry, are doing to carry on their mother's charitable work. I recommend this as a must read for anyone interested in learning more about an amazing woman who brought more kindness, compassion, and philanthropy to the world.
