Every turn he takes leads to someone else from his past who has an axe to grind with him. And all along, he's maniacally pursued by a farmer and his pig. This is a hilarious, over the top sequel to the previous Lucky books, full of many recurring characters, and unique, unexpected situations. Put this at the top of your reading list, it's a fun ride! - 5.0 out of 5 stars from JEMc -- Another fun read from Jack Stroke : The warped mind of the author is on display again with the introduction a new character, Pig, yep Pig is really a pig. But not as big a pig as the main character Lucky. If you've read the other books in the series (and if you haven't, you should) you know that Lucky is the guy you love to hate. He cheats, lies, stays screwed up on heavy drugs, and dodges all responsibility when the "good" characters surrounding him get killed because of his slippery ways. In this newest book of the series Lucky is forced to deal with some of his past acts by a farmer who just happens to be traveling with his pig. Pig manages to steal most of the scenes, ride around in everyone's lap, and smell terrible. He's a delightful character and if you've come to know Lucky like I have via the previous books, you'll be worrying just when Lucky will decide Pig would make a better breakfast than travel companion. The book will put you in a good mood, give you a laugh or two and keep you wondering where the author comes up with this endless parade of oddball characters and situations. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Nancy -- man I love this series : There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the Lucky series. Stroke is a genius.. I have no clue how he comes up with these screnarios. The part with Lucky running away and trying to vanquish his problems using drugs was hiliarious and in this book Lucky grew a conscious! sort of. It’s so hard to dislike him, when I probably should. lol. Maybe because sometimes I can identify with him. All of Stoke’s books are excellent reading, not one of his books am I able to put down once I have started reading them. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jeff -- Most interesting, unlikable, character I know : 18 Hours if You're Lucky was my first Lucky book, so I was a little confused early on if Lucky was a good guy or bad guy. For some reason, I like the protagonist to be a good guy/girl ( Jason Bourne, Jack Reacher, Stephanie Plum, etc ) After finishing 18 Hours If You're Lucky, I still wasn't sure. However, I really enjoyed the book, and he's a unique protagonist, so I went back and read the first Lucky book. I've decided Lucky does have some redeeming qualities, but I'd never want to meet him. Although I prefer to like recurring characters, Lucky wouldn't be nearly as interesting if he was likeable. Both, probably all three, Lucky books have great characters ( loved Dwayne and Pig ), are funny, and , like all Jack Stroke books ( I'm a big fan of The Other Hotel series ) have great dialogue. My only concern is I wasn’t getting much sleep when I read it. Every chapter is a page -turner, cliff hanger that resulted in a few late night reads. Great book!
